Farm

I am a country girl. Farm girl. That is strange because I actually never lived in a village or a farm, my childhood was in a town, small town in Russia, yes, it was not a big city, but still, I never lived in my own house, but an apartment, never did gardening or taking care of animals.

But my soul is in a farm. Some how I think I will be better and very natural there.

Last weekend we drove to spend three days in a farm. You know, real farm with 200 cows, hundreds of chicken, donkeys, lamas, dogs and cats. 90 acre of beautiful land.

I feel so relaxed other there. So inspired. Unplugged. I enjoy seeing my kids getting dissolved in nature. Love this place. It was our second stay there and we will be back.

Lake

Pine Mountain Lake. Absolutely gorgeous. Quite, deep, cold. For now cold. Its a pity it is all surrounded by houses and there are no trails around the lake. You can get an access only in a few places around the lake, few public beaches, which will be all crowded in summer. But for now, all the lake is ours, there are barely any people.

Its a New Year soon. Time to think about what happened and make plans for a new year. That year in some sense was revolutionising for me. I found Montessori. Montessori education that changed my life, my perspective, my peoples and children sense. Montessori philosophy has answers to all questions for me, children, adults, life in general. It gave me courage to be brave and independent on different people opinion. I start to be brave in photography. Trying to reflect what is beauty for me, what I think is beautiful in children.

Ocean Photo session, Half Moon bay, CA

Ocean is filling me up. Whenever I fill empty, tired, I drive to the beach. I take my boys and drive to the beach. I love going their just with my children. I love watching them enjoying the water, truly enjoying, adults can't enjoy that way. They are getting distracted. Kids can. I can ENJOY watching children enjoying. I can do that as a small child.

Last weekend I was photographing a family of six on a beach! In 40 minutes kids got diluted in a scenery, they caught the ocean mood. I needed to press a button only and that is it. This is how environment is shaping us. That is why it the most important to create that inspiring environment around yourself and your children.

Wow! I fall apart a little and didn't post here. Even though I have lots if things for you to show. My 365 project is still alive and helps me keep going and appreciate my life now and here at this exact moment with struggles and happiness.

Meanwhile Fall came to our lives, my oldest son went back to school, second year in his Montessori school. So exciting, it is the same class for him, the same activities, but how different everything will be for him, because he is older now, because he had a beautiful summer and got new experience. The same things start to shine differently and that is a beauty of Montessori school, that you are able to discover new things about something you thought you knew well.

Now when he is older he will start to try and be a leader. But at the same time follow for children that are on their final year at school. Very exciting center point.

Portrait session... As Sally Mann said:"Every image is in some way a “portrait,” not in the way that it would reproduce the traits of a person, but in that it pulls and draws [...], in that it extracts something, an intimacy, a force."

I try really hard to make a portrait session very intimate, extracting really carefully beautiful little things from the soul. To put them outside to show the word and a model how different they can be, how beautiful they are now and what a difference they can make.

The portrait session is more then a capturing an image, its opening something that you didn't know before. It can be as simple as getting to know how beautiful you are and how great and natural you can pose to something like opening your powerful you or tiny and vulnerable.

That will be your story.

Now SpringInGreen is having its first own dress. Thanks to my dear friend who made this dress herself. We decided to make a little session in the park to show it here. We walked to the nearest park, which has a big soccer field. Jack Lyle Park in Menlo Park. Even soccer field could be a great place for photo shooting, if you know your camera settings and feel the light. I hold prism in front of the camera to create different effects. For tilt shifting was trying to detach the lens from the camera and trying to shoot through it holding at some very short distance from the camera....It was hard and I barely got any pictures. Don't know how people do that, but will give it a try again on the next photo session.

How come I didn't post here my 365 project. And missed a day already. You think that to create something interesting you need a special time, inspiration, a special dress, mood, beautiful hair. But to make creative pictures you need practice. Every day you need to challenge your brains until it gets easier and easier every day. Like muscles, you exercise every day, you are becoming stronger every day. Brain is not so different. 365 is a challenge, with two boys and a house, my own business and being far from any help, I am all here. 365 is a project that trained my eye for a perfect light. Light, always keep looking for a good light.

365 project is a challenge. You can't wake up in the morning and think about where you will take a picture today. But during the whole day you keep your eyes open for the special moment, perfect light. And just trust that it will happen. And so far it happens. And then in a couple of months it will be a habit and easy. Easy to bring a camera with you everywhere, easy see the good light and interesting moments. I love it!

We met to make a usual family photo session, pretty traditional, but nature did have a different plan for us. And we followed it, we didn't have a chance. Bright sun, heavy rain, and sun again. Just keep moving quickly reading what universe was dictating right then. Live moment fully.
